Position Overview
As a Legal Intern/Attachment Student, you will work closely with our associates / partners and legal staff, providing support on a variety of tasks and projects. This position is ideal for individuals seeking hands-on experience in legal research and case preparation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in legal research and analysis on various cases and legal issues.
- Draft and review legal documents, including memos, briefs, and contracts.
- Attend client meetings and court proceedings, taking notes and observing procedures.
- Help prepare case files and organize documentation for ongoing cases.
- Conduct general administrative tasks to support the legal team.
- Collaborate with associates on specific projects and assignments as needed.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a law school or a relevant undergraduate program.
- Strong interest in construction related laws.
- Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) is a plus.
ASSOCIATES (0-1 year pqe)
Position Overview
As a Legal Associate, you will play a critical role in supporting our associates / partners in various legal matters. You will conduct legal research, draft documents, and assist in case management while gaining invaluable experience in various construction law related matters especially in alternative dispute resolution areas.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough legal research and analysis to support case strategies and arguments.
- Draft legal documents, including briefs, motions, contracts, and other agreements.
- Assist in preparing for trials, hearings, and depositions, including organizing exhibits and witness materials.
- Review and analyze contracts and other legal documents for compliance and risk assessment.
- Attend client meetings and court proceedings, providing support and taking detailed notes.
- Collaborate with senior associate / partners to develop case strategies and provide legal counsel to clients.
- Maintain accurate case files and documentation, ensuring all records are up-to-date and organized.
Qualifications
- Holds a valid practising certificate in Malaysia.
- Strong legal research and writing skills, with proficiency in legal research tools, e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis, CLJ.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards in legal practice.
